Craggy Range Te Kahu Gimblett Gravels Vineyard 2016
Regular price $25.00
The name "Te Kahu" means 'the cloak' in Maori and refers to the mist that envelops Giants Winery in the Tukituki Valley. Craggy Range is a family winery that was established in 1997 and sits below the Te Mata peak in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. An innovative approach was taken to select unique parcels of land and planted vineyards that would produce wines that spoke of their place. This blend of 69% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Malbec expresses the unique terroir of Gimblett Gravels' warm, stony soils. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks before aging in oak barriques, 19% of which is new. Showing a beautiful deep color with hints of purple, the nose brings cherry, plum and dried herbs. The palate has rich tannins, a gentle structure and balanced acidity. Pair with beef brisket and pan fried potatoes with rosemary.
